I discussed thee in another thread but thought this was an appropriate section to put them.

Started but cutting 4x lengths of 16m Round

Lit the forge, heated them up and hammered them into these

They work in 2" thick hardwood board but need testing in use on areal workbench. One pair is destined for a forumite in N.Z.

Dale I don't know if you have seen this video from Ruchard Macguire where he uses a punch on his holdfasts. haven't tried it yet

Yes I have seen that mate. Be interesting to see if these need it.

Great looking holdfasts. What steel alloy did you use?

From my research mild steel works fine, so since I had some in stock I went with that. If they fail I'll look at spring steel but that is a more expensive prospect.
Early ones were wrought iron which is even more maluable than mild steel and much much easier to forge.
