fungas and a larva

Doing a bit of digging in the garden and I unearthed something a bit unusual, to me it looks like a fugas of some sort (if that's what it is) has colonized a beetle larva

All part of the eat or be eaten cycling of nutrients which indicates a biologically active soil.
