Saw this in the latest edition of American Woodturner
so I just had to make meself one

a spring loaded centre punch with a knob (Tassie Myrtle I think)
It probably didn't need the ferrule but got one anyway

Nice work! I might have to put a couple of these on the to-do list, I'm always losing my centre punches when they roll off the bench.
