Releasing saw guard after use

In the manual for the workbench it states that one should release the velcro trigger strap and the saw guard to take the tension off the springs. How do you release the saw guard when the saw is mounted in the Triton workbench? http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/confused.gif

The short answer is you don't (unless of course you want to remove the saw from the bench everytime). My saw is mounted permanently on the Triton so there is tension on the guard spring all the time. Not good for it but I'd rather sacrifice a spring rather than mount and dismount the saw with monotonous regularity.

I just raise the saw to it's maximum height, or lower it if it's upside down, and the guard springs closed. I run a 9 1/4" Makita in the older style saw base.

Maybe I'm missing the point but why don't you just take the top off, while leaving the saw where it is. I have used three saws in my time and some will allow the guard to self release once the top is removed while others after removing the top you will need to lower the saw which will release the guard.
I don't find this a problem at all.
