Here is a picture of the latest order for door handles. Smallest is 45mm dia, largest is 300mm dia. All are made from Tasmanian oak.

Also, they all have either convex or concave faces. No flat ones.
It is the 300mm ones that I wonder,.... "what sort of door are they going to be fitted to?"
Not often you see a door handle that size. Obviously not for a small cupboard or a jewellery box .
Anyway, job order sheet says they are to be stained black with a polyurethane finish so it doesn't really matter they are made from 2 bits glued together.
The 300mm ones have a slight concave face, 8mm over the dia. So a pretty gentle curve.

On the reverse side there is a tricky dia and radius to turn. So it is lucky I have a bunch of specialised tool rests that came with the lathe.
394796This particular tool rest is only about 55mm wide along the edge that the tool rests on however it has saved the day on lots of occasions and deserves a medal. Not many tool rests you can get completely behind the turning.
Next pic shows radius turned.

Probably done the door handle thing to death.
So apologies if it gets repetitive to some.

Very nice work. Makes me wonder if they saw the 300mm dia handles in half for a matched pair on a door set?

Once again lovely work.

There customers must love this type of handles. Lets see if the size will increase above 300mm. :yippee:

Moby. I have actually done lots of split turnings for this client before, so I doubt these ones will be sawn in half.
Christos. Was asked at one stage if I could do one at 1metre dia. Said yes but heard no more about it.
