Hi all was just wondering if anyone had plans or could direct me to where I could get plans for a chair like the one in this pic. Prepared to pay if necessary free is always good though.

Doesn't have to be exactly the same.

I think they are made in the tens of thousands in Indonesia. We have 8 of them in "teak." I don't think you could purchase the timber for what we paid for the chairs.

Thanks Mobyturns......I was thinking that.... Thought it might have been a great project to alter the design and make something interesting. Just wasn't sure how it was put together so that it was stable and folded smoothly.

Maybe buy a cheapy version and take it to pieces? Probably cheaper than any plans...

Was thinking of that Jeremy. Maybe BBQs Galore might have something along this line.
Of course then I need to find some suitable timber. Was thinking of QLD Maple.... Early days yet.

I have seen a couple of versions, some are mortise and tenon joints for the rails to legs and also slats to rails, others use a dovetail joint for the slats to rails. The quality of the joinery on our chairs is pretty average. I suspect they come from multiple small workshops as there appears to be quite a bit of variation in sizing of components, quality of the "teak" and the joinery. I quickly noticed the differences when we purchased them I was able to choose the best 12 out of about 200 chairs available in the warehouse. We kept 8 and gave the other 4 to a relative.

That's a neat Rocker Crowie..... Not quiet what I was thinking for this project but will keep it in mind for a future effort. No matter how hard I looked I couldn't see how the hell it folded...but certainly a great Idea.:2tsup:
