Well, I do sometimes, but when I get a small cherry branch that looks interesting I like to see what's in it?

So here's what was hiding in one bit

It's easy to see which pair go together

Only 3" diameter. Finished with a singla coat of hard wax oil and microcrystaline wax.

Ta for all the likes and thanks folks.

Just to show that I do do bigger, the big jobbie was a tulip tree that used to grow alongside the Canal du Midi, about 4 miles from home, but was cut down because of a health problem? I managed to scrounge several bits for the 'fellas' and they have been sat outside my workshop for several years. So I had a go at one of the bits. Nice to turn too. It's a shame it had to be cut down as they are beautiful trees.

This is a small piece of Russian olive, a false olive with wicked spikes on it! The 'raw' wood branches are as ugly as sin when you first see them, but the surprise is in the detail inside

I do love this turning lark:D :D

Gees, there's some nice colour in those timbers. I like the shape of the small bowls, they look great.

Cheers gents!! It's nice when it all comes together.

This is what some of the Russian olive looks like, the before!!

It was pure luck that I ever decided to attack it in the first place. I've posted this before, but it's one of the first times I had done anything with it

I like it and I was forced to do another for a good friend too!!
