Hi,
I would describe myself as a novice, although I have made a few things in the past, they're all basic projects.
I am making a display cabinet which includes some shelves, out of Australian red cedar, which I bought from a farm and had milled down to 19 mm boards.
I don't know how long between the tree being cut down and the timber being milled, but think it was about six months to a year.
I edge glued two pieces together to make the boards wider and they've been sitting in my shed for seven years since then. (got busy doing other things...)

Some a flat but others are cupped, as per attached photo.

My question is would it work to clamp it flat and glue/join into the cabinet or am I asking for future splitting / warping / disaster?

Thanks for any advice.
Phil

Trying to clamp it flat will only end in tears. You can undo the cupping naturally by laying them flat in the sun; the heat will dry out the top, causing it to shrink and cup towards the heat source. Make sure you keep a close eye on the process, check it every 10-15 mins, as it can happen very quickly on a hot day.
