Hi all,
Just got hold of some yellow box, just wondering has any turned it and if so what was it like ?

Turns well and takes a screw thread. Have hand chased threads in it with good results. Polishes well but it can be a bit bland with little grain or figure.

Thanks for that, this part of the tree isn't the burl I cut a section of about 300mm square it is pretty heavy the tree is completely seasoned. Got some nice grain thou Ill put a few pics up when I turn it

Hi box , isn, t the yellow box we get in australia a gum tree ?
I don, t think It, s the same as the fine straight grain european
Box , which Is used for threads etc.?

Yes, euc melliodora. We have a fair bit on our property and it turns nice. Can have some beautiful yellow, oranges and even reds in it. Some grain is really spectular.
