Under the tree this Christmas was a Hori Hori, the Japanese all purpose hacking, weeding, planting tool.

Did have one on my 'makeone' list but Santa beat me to it.
It came in a plastic sheath but I have started making a decent one with a wooden liner (that accounts for the red pencil marks on the blade.....)

Snake picking up tools????

Pete

If they are snake pick up tools, I would want the handle about 6 metres long:).
If they aren't for snakes, I have no idea what they would be for.

Yep, they are snake handling tools. A hook, a pinner and a carry bag. I got them from a mob in Tasmania called "Raptor".

Not much use for snake picking-up stuff here in Somerset (Santa probably knew that)
6 metres? - that short.... If I read it right you have a lot of nasty critters over there, what is it? 8 out the 10 most poisonous species on the planet.
I stubbed my bare toe on a hedgehog once, that was bad enough.....

And that's just on land, when you get into the briny that's another kettle of fish, blue ringed octopus and other types of stingers. Keeps us on our toes,Mark.
