Hi,

have a Triton TPT15 thicknesser that I've had for ages, but hasn't had much use so am reluctant to sell it for parts..

About six months ago I heared a big clunk and everything stopped. The blades rotate, but not the feed rollers.

Opened up the thicknesser and found a few of the sprockets where broken.. Managed to get new ones from Grizzly in the US, however the issue persists.

Here is a short vid of what is going on.

(noise turned off :D )

Seems most likely to me that perhaps i've broken part 72 https://d27ewrs9ow50op.cloudfront.net/partsdiagramthumbs/1000/g0477_pl_3_1000.png

Does anybody have any recommendations for a machine repairer in Canberra, or should I give up on the likelyhood that I am going to be unable to fix it ?

Cheers

A Duke

Hi,
What part of Canberra are you in?
PM me and we may be able to work something out so that the thicknesser and I are in the same place so I can have a sticky beak and see what can be done.

It looks like the key that's meant to engage in the top sprocket has broken/come out. If you're game to try pulling it apart yourself I think it would be a fairly simple fix, looks like an allen key and some circlip pliers are all that's needed. You can't make it more broken

I dunno... the amount of spare parts I have when I put something back together is a sight to behold.. reckon I could save the manufacturing industry a lot of money with all those useless parts that obviously serve no purpose :C

Looks like key has fallen out. Should be held in place by a grub screw in the drive cog. Get a new key, try to insert it and look for the grub screw. It may also have fallen out.

Thanks to everybody and especially Hugh who dropped by today.

It appears the sprocket I put on didn't have a key.. so either need to get the correct one from Grizzly or have a key hole put in the sprockets I do have.

Thanks again all
