Segmented egg and cup

Periodically I get these urges to attack the perpetual mess in my shed, they don't usually last very long. This morning was no different. I found a piece of black bean that I had started to play with after a visit to Turnfest about three years ago. Ali Avisera did a demo where he laminated some pieces and made some nice goblet forms. He used a router to do the job. I am reasonably familiar with a table saw and did some thing similar on the table saw. Obviously I got side tracked, because the piece has been around since then. It was only 50mm diameter and about 100mm long so there wasn't much to work with. This egg and egg cup is the result.
