If anyone is interested in pusuing the seahorse pattern, here is a photo of 2 and the various contours/shaping I have applied.
These are 2 different treatments of the smae pattern, 2 types of Pine.
You need not be concerned about type of wood (timber) but more grain the better.

Very nice: the bold grains and the shape of the individual pieces really suit the overall design.

That first one is Pine ?? it looks come canary I have.

Yes it's pine. But is was in a culled pile from my supplier. The grain is heavily loaded with resin giving it theyellow. I was terrible to sand as well. The resin/pitch clogged all the sanding papers/drums. Smelled nice tho'
