I have a question about the woodcut bowl saver. Is the depth of cut directly tied to the diameter of the bowl being cut out or can you say cut out a blank that it 200x 100 or cut a blank that is 200x65? I hope I'm making sense. I am really interested in getting the bowl saver but I would like it to be flexible in the blank sizes it can cut.

Thanks,

Peter

The depth of cut is controlled by your setting.
Also the diameter, but that depends a little on the depth, as it cuts in a curve.
Too wide by too shallow will most likely have a hollow in the centre.
I love mine

Great, thanks for that. I might go and invest in one.

You're most welcome,
These save a lot of shavings.

You can get quite a bit of variation . If you want a very shallow bowl , you can partially advance the cutter before it enters the wood . The pivet point does not have to be on the centerline . As long as you can get the tailstock fitting into the tailstock ,it will work .

Thanks for the feedback, dropped in to my favourite shop on the way home and picked up a bowl saver. I think I'll have some fun Sunday.

Thanks again,

Peter
