Been a while since I been on here, or have done much of anything. I hope y'all been well. Wife and I purchased an antique cherry table a couple of weeks ago, and of course it needed a leaf. So here I go with another project. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/39a4a072051f7c7633947c5be30f5149.jpg I had some saw mill cherry in the basement to work with https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/293e43dfeb0e7125296546af33ca6ab5.jpg planed and started joining together https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/2b9359eb2d1a26580c52eaab540f947e.jpg Since it was 19 inches, 48 cm, wide it wouldn't fit my little planer, so it was hand planing time which worked very well. After the fitting I decided to sand the original top so I could get the new cherry to match, as well as I could. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/940f018909503a4fe50567be33b3a618.jpg It may never match perfectly but wife is happy with it, and my oil lamp makes it look good https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170812/80351be81fcf31d7dd2ad8e3568edad0.jpg

:2tsup: Well Done.
Just tell the visitors the panel got bleached by the sun.

Looks good. Cherry will darken with exposure to light very quickly, so you won't have to wait long for the leaf to match the rest of the table. Unfortunately, that does mean that leaving things on it will leave noticeable shadowing pretty quickly as well (if it gets direct sunlight, it only needs a day), so keep that in mind.

Thank you all. Well my antique lamp ain't a going any where, so it can make a spot right there in the middle.

Nice result. As Elan says, they'll match pretty soon.
