Hi,
Have just worked out the digital camera( I hope).
There have been some threads on carved chains so I would like to present a variation. The attached photo is of a caged ball with chain which I carved two years ago.
The timber is camphor laurel and the cage is 75mm x75mm x230mm high, the chain has 6 links and is 300mm long . The ball is carved free so that it can roll within the cage. It is all one peice with no joins carved from one piece of timber. The finish is sanding sealer and wax.
I hope this carving is of interest to fellow members.
Regards Terry

The good news is, I wouldn't need weeks to get one of these almost finished, them stuff it all up. I'd stuff it within 20 mins. :D
Excellent work, a real show of patience and skill.

Major Panic, thanks am glad that you liked it.
Time taken was maybe 2 weeks but you do not count the hours. You do a bit here and a bit there and suddenly it is finished.
Outback, took a while to work out the message but I think I got it , thanks.
I think carving is like mediation, hours roll into hours, days into days, and then into weeks. All of a sudden you look up and the wife says" do you still live here"
