Saw sharpening

Hi. Anyone know of a really good saw sharpening service in Sydney.

I took a couple of tenon saws in for sharpening and just got them back - disappointed with the outcome. The service will remain nameless as I'm not sure whether the sharpening is the problem or my expectations.

I would also be interested to know where those of you who own the smaller Adria or LN saws take them to be sharpened.

No time or inclination to learn to do my own at present.

Have you tried Henry Brothers?

I have to say that I haven't had a saw sharpened by them yet, but going on the quality of the bandsaw blades that they sell, I'd be surprised if their saw doctor is no good.

I have an Adria dovetail saw but as I have only owned it for a couple of months it's still very sharp. :)

I bought it from Terry Gordon and he offers a sharpening service on the saws he sells. So, when it gets blunt, I'll either send it back to Terry or try Henry Bros.

Long term, I plan to buy an old dovetail saw that I can use to practice my sharpening on so that I can do my own sharpening.

IMHO the best saw sharpening service anywhere in the country is DIY. Even the first attempt seems to achieve better results in better time at a far superior cost than any other method. The only problem is sourcing the double slim taper files to perform the task.
