Well to be a little more precise turning, toy and model making has come to a halt as I need to sort through this little pile before more arrives some I have roughly cut as can be seen.
The best part is that it all came from less than 100feet away from my door and much more to come. I am now a very happy man

G'Day Derek, I thought by the title that you were having to use your wood stash for heating with the snow dump in England!! :B:U:C:o
Keep warm my friend... Cheers, Peter

Does not look like much snow has fallen where Derek is living by the photos that he uploaded. Must be living in a sunny side of England.

Always good when some nice pieces come your way.

Everywhere seems to had snow but down in the SouthEast of England we just got Rain. I was so disappointed that I decided to make my own:roflmao:

The logs that you still see are what is left the other pile is what I have part prepared which is 48 pieces and some of them may yield more than one blank and also a picture of one of the nice pieces which I have quite a few.

Due to a late start after a visit to the hospital midday not a lot done in the converting the pile but did manage to get another 25 pieces cut which brings the total to 73 pieces, and there is still more to cut as well as being told that another load will be delivered tomorrow. Not sure what wood it will be until it arrives they will also take away 12 sacks of the shavings from the chainsawing.
Now all I have to do is find somewhere to store it all

Postage may be the killer guys even for free wood:whistling:. As I said in a earlier post the advantage of this is it is all being cut down less than 100ft away and I can hear the sound of the chainsaws

KBs Pensmore unfortunately it was for me yet another visit and still more tests and visits planned

I think it would take her over the weight limit being wet wood because some of it especially the Oak is very heavy at least there are no pests in it

I have one in a chuck at the moment but still have 9 or 10 still left to do they are great for putting a thread on

They are very desirable by the woodturners here in the UK. people that play bowls have now all gone over to composite balls as the LV ones need to be retested if playing in matches or something like that so I have been told

Yes - you would never see them on a green these days.

They are museum pieces

At last finished all of the wood that was outside under a tarp so now all sealed under cover and in stick. Started with 128 pieces cut from the logs then once cut into rounds and hollow form blanks gives me a good amount to turn and that is after I gave 18 pieces away this now gives me a total of 102 bowl blanks and without getting on my knees to count the hollow form blanks a rough guess of 40 to 50. Some I will eventually rough turn to speed up drying. I am expecting some losses but with that amount should still give me a good amount.

The photo's show my wood pile as of yesterday the space on the shelf in the second photo is now full and the pile hiding under the white sheet has now gone. who said that wood needs to be expensive as a good 80% of this was either very cheap or free wood
