Hi mates,

As I succeeded to lay my hands on Bosch GCM12SD mitre saw, now I am after upgrading the blade to a fine finish cross cut one... Have been reading the different articles on the net. The thing is the blade is 305 x 30, and I can see most of the blades have bore size of 25mm.

So, any advice fir a good blade 80 teeth or up?

Thanks in advance!

Ed

I have used the Bosch Optiline blades and have found them to be very good and quite cheap. I get mine from Total Tools but they are available on line from here (https://www.renonation.com.au/products/bosch-optiline-wood-circular-saw-blade-305mm-12-inch-120-teeth?variant=43463073287).

I was actually trying to find either Freud or Forrest blade, but it seems these are not really available down here, and not too much info about those... I will give these blades a good look.

Just bought an AEK blade 305mm x 72T ATB x 30mm arbour for my panel saw, and whilst I do not have a lot of experience with various blades, it is great!

But at circa $140, it may be out of your price range.

Now it makes sense why I could not find it. Thanks!

How did you go with the blade? Did you end up with the AKE, and if so how did you find it?

Equiring mind etc...

Hi,

Well, to be honest, didn't go for that one, really... Got a bit confused as their blades are 300mm and 250mm, whilst my saws go by 305mm and 254 mm... For now sticking to the original blades...

Thanks for asking though!!! :)

Cheers,
Ed

this is one of the quirks

I believe all 305 mm (actually 304.8) and 254 mm blades are that size -- the sizing equates to 12" and 10".
However, quite a few 300 mm and 250 mm blades are really 12" or 10" ones "rounded down"

Bought a Makita blade that was labelled 260 mm thinking that it was a 254 mm blade "rounded up". Had to take it back as it didn't clear the guard.

This would do a decent job on your saw - https://www.bunnings.com.au/diablo-12-305mm-60t-combination-circular-saw-blade_p6370882
or for a very fine finish this - https://www.bunnings.com.au/diablo-305mm-12-100-teeth-ultimate-flawless-finish-circular-saw-blade_p6370885
The first one appears to definitely be 30mm bore, not sure about the second one though.

I have a Makita 12 inch SCMS and found most of the common blades flexed a bit. I did some research as well and would have gone for the Forrest Chop Master (I think it was called) but couldn't get it in Oz. Ended up with a Guido negative rake triple grind blade with a thicker body(2.8 mm) with a 3.2 mm kerf. NO flex at all now. Moral to the story is that the bigger blades can be prone to flex and be wary of the "thin" blades.
