Looks like you went straight down to the lathe on Christmas Day. Well done. The Vermec quality is pretty impressive isn't it.

Yes top quality, and solid. over 6kg of steel, three big bearings and zero vibration. I've messed about with making wooden ones but useless.
now I just have to make enough to justify the purchase.

I think the term "ballbox" could be misconstrued.....
Very nice work BTW; looks like 2018 is shaping up the be The Year of the Sphere (in your workshop anyway)

Just watched the Vermec video on this gadget - looks like great fun, but quite time consuming to make hollowed out spheres.
Very impressed with how much you have been able to turn out in such a short time !!

Yes Jim, rough it out with a bowl gouge then true it up with the jig. Brendan did a couple of utube clips. Phil.

I take about an hour to make a hollow sphere, only use the jig to true up the last few mm.

Depends on your lathe, on my Vicmarc 175 I can cut 130mm dia.
