Hi guys , finally got some shed time , had a nice piece of
Rosewood i thought would make a bowl from but turned
out to have a few cracks when turning round , so ended up
a platter , still should be ok i think , one side done today
looking good at the moment ,! Will see if any more cracks
appear , anyhoo this is it so far
Any comments and advice always welcome......

Looks good so far. As experienced as you are, I expect you know to do a wrap or three of tape around the rim and run some CA glue in the cracks.

It would not do well to have 1/4 of a platter in the face.

Hi kidbee, yeah , sorry about the delay in replying ,
I turned the top and started pyrographing the top
Then .......oooppppsss dropped it on the concrete floor
snapped the side white part right off:o:o

Hi paul , as explained to kidbee , while pyroing the cracks got worse
more ca glue , then ran out of ca , then dropped on the floor , It now
lives under the bench untill It behaves It, s self:~

Hi brainstrust , the blank was 440mm wide , the round piece
Is about 410mm now I think, not sure It will survive , lots of cracks
I spent 2 afternoons pyroing this £!%=#; thing and am not a happy camper
right now !!

I just learnt a new word, pyroing. Not at all what I thought it might have meant!

I always thought "pyro" had something to do with fire!:;

As an old retired photographer, I have to throw this in the pot. Pyro was one of the revived miracle developers in the 1950s.

Absolutely correct smiife - pyro comes from the greek word for fire (pyr).
