Can anyone tell me what is the best price paid for the new Triton Router in Australia? My only source so far is from Bunnings which retails it for around the $400-$500 mark. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Erman

Visit www.timbecon.com.au (http://www.timbecon.com.au)
Look in the router section.

Print page.
Take page to Bunnies.
Show page to Bunnies.

They may hop up and down. But you will get their advertised 10% deal, which imho is the ONLY reason to shop at Bunnies.

Your buy price has become $391.50. That's a saving of $47.50 for you on their current price of $439.00.

Alternatively approach your local Triton dealer and ask them to match Bunnies 10% special! I did that a few months ago and paid $385.20 for the router.

WOW! What a great BB this is even for the unregistered.

I bought mine for $360 at Hardwarehouse (Bunnings) in Sydney a couple of months ago. They originally quoted me $425. I rang around and found that Gasweld were selling at $399. I went back to Hardwarehouse and gave them Gasweld's phone no. who confirmed the price and so I got it for 10% off = $360.
It's a great machine.
Good luck

When HardwareHouse were HardwareHouse (not bunnings) the cheaper priced had to be ADVERTISED.

Walked out with goods sitting on the counter one day when they failed to honor their 10% off and would only price match. Manager looked most embarassed.

Perhaps the buyout by Bunnings has its upside ????

Sorry to be a stick in the mud but why can't we just accept the price that we are given. Why should you allow Bunnies to hide behind their -10% policy. They dont take the chance to advertise a good price, they don't discount if you ask, they just wait for somebody who takes the effort and money to adverstise their business and then just undercut it. Why not give a business a chance, it's a joke that you are willing to undercut a dedicated woodworking store in order to save $5 and give it to Bunnies. What happens when all of the small dedicated woodworking businesses go broke and we get stuck with nothing but Bunnings (who dont even sell UBeaut products), every body needs to make some money so let it be so.

My pockets aren't overflowing with excess cash (being a student) but I would be more than happy to pay the extra $30 to buy form a company that has taken the effort to win the business. It seems that people are willing to spend hours chasing the best price for the sake of a few $$$'s. I work part time in retail and I see people running around the city all day to save $5, they come back to me with their price and I take off another $5 so then they run back to the other store again ... what a waste.

So to get off my soap box and allow the abuse to flow freely .. just accept a good price when somebody offers it and don't turn yourself into a fool fighting for the last $2.

By the way I don't work for any business mentioned above, and I do shop at Bunnies for convenience, but for a majority of my goods I am happy to pay a few dollars more to support a business dedicated to my hobby.

THANK YOU

Hit the nail on the head there, I detest BUnnies and all that they represent, they don't stock U Beaut.
Of course they don't, after all, Estapol is the average Bunnies customer method of 'professional' finish.
Unfortunately they have driven out the small family business but there are still a few places that can offer sound advice which, in my opinion, is priceless.
Having said that I will play them against other major players such as Myer, Hardly Normal etc.

Want another way of finding the best price, rather than doing the groundwork yourself? Choice magazine offers its members a service where you contact them with the details of what you are looking for, and the price you have found so far, and they will do the shopping around for you, including negotiating the best price, and give you all the details within a week (I believe). Sound like a plug for Choice? Perhaps, but they are offering a decent service, and find legitimate, genuine sellers. The other option is your local Triton club- they usually have their finger on the best local prices, and may have already negotiated a discount somewhere. I bought my Triton Router about 2 months ago, brand new for $300.

This is a really important issue. If we as woodworking enthusiasts are not prepared to support the dedicated stores who give us high quality products, service and advice, the big retailers will be the only outlets left in the market.

It has to be worth paying a couple of bucks more to help maintain the businesses that look after us.

By the way, I don't have any connection with any woodworking business. I'm just an amateur enthusiast and a happy customer of the specialist woodworking supply outlets.

Keep chipping away!
