Well my Open Shed Day for 2018 has drawn to a close.

Thanks to all those who attended and also to the supporters who could not make it but sent messages of support.

I was pretty busy most of the day with all the activity that was happening and performing host duties but I found a chance to take a couple of photos between turning sausages.

As far as I know everyone had a great day, new friendships started, deals done and stories told. All objectives of a gtg met.

We might have to do it again next October.

thanks Matt,

And thanks to you and Sally for your help with the food preparation, I really appreciate you both stepping in so that I could go out to the shed to greet the arrivals and settle everyone in.

Thanks to Pagie for milling some of my log collection until his chainsaw blade broke.

Aldav brought in some giveaways as well as donating the lucky door prize. thanks.

Thanks also to those who brought food to share and timber for the timber swap. The timber swap itself did not generate a lot of interest despite some interesting and historic items being offered. Bob (OldGreybeard) brought some redgum that had been used in a Scienceworks project and DaveinOz brought a piece of the Old Darwin Pier. We might have to look at a different format for the timber swap next year or find something else that works better.

And of course thanks to all who attended for being pleasant company.

I might have to be careful in selecting the date for next year as I have heard that the TWWW show may be changing back to October too.

Thanks to all for making it a great day.

How's the planning for that going Dave? Will it be similar to last year's with projects for the kids again? I might need a bit of planning time for that.

Thanks again to everyone who supported my Open Shed Day 2018.

It was great to see so many people entering into the spirit of the event, making new friends and helping each other as we woodies tend to do.

Anyway, I have just started a new thread for Doug3030's Open Shed Day 2019. http://www.woodworkforums.com/f303/doug3030s-shed-day-2019-a-224305#post2112421

If you enjoyed the day or may be interested in coming to the next one please click the link and then subscribe to the new thread so that you will get updates as they are posted. :2tsup:

And if you enjoyed the company at the Open Shed Day why not think about coming along to our monthly meetings at Box Hill RSL on the last Mondays of the month. Either join us for Dinner in the Bistro from 6pm or just for a chat in the Lounge from 7pm.

At this Open Shed Day, I was given a large piece of timber by DaveIinOZ. It was a piece of a jetty in Darwin that was bombed in the Japanese raid in WW2.

Today I decided that I had picked it up and carried it around once too often for it's size so I cut some pieces off of it.

I'm not sure of the timber type but this piece of it is destined to become the Shoulder-vise spacer block in my workbench build.

Thanks Dave.

:bump2::bump2::bump::bump::bump: :bump2::bump2:

Just a shameless bump in this old thread to remind those who attended my open shed day last year that the 2019 event is only seven days away.

It's not too late to get on the guest-list for the Premier event on the Melbourne Woodworkers' Social Calendar.

Just follow the link and come along.
