Chisel holder ideas needed!

I'm wanting to make a compact chisel holder (not laid out in one long row), does anyone have some good examples to show?
Thinking of putting it on wheels too so it can be stored out of the way when not needed. Any mobile examples out there? :U

How about bundling sections of plastic conduit or pipe? You could mount them vertically and put a carry handle at the top. You'd have to stagger them to make room for the handles.

Keep an eye open on your local newsagent, or any store, sometimes they change the rotating display stands, for whatever reason, they'd make a good stand for the Chisels. My local one moved shop, and threw out about 6 of them, most had thrust bearings on them, when I saw them they were at the bottom of the trailer headed for the dump!!!!!
Have a look at your local dump shop tooo.
They make a good starting point, as they have the post and castors, which would be the most expensive parts.

I think Issatree used something very similar to a rubber stamp holder on a high stand. It is possible there was a small shelf on it as well.

Thinking of going that plumbing pipe in a big bucket and put some wheels on it :)

Bunnings have a small dolly (about 300mm x 450mm) that would be ideal to put under a bucket. At $12 it is cheaper than you can buy the wheels for.

PVC bucket and different sized PVC pipe works well. Lathe and chisels currently in container otherwise I would attach a photo. If you want wheels screw some ply on the bottom and attach wheels. I usually keep a couple of inches of shavings in the bottom of the bucket to ensure the longer tools don’t lose their edge

I made along similar lines but scrapped it after 'stabbing' my hand too many times when getting a chisel in a hurry. If I turned all the chisels upside down as is the one on the extreme left in your image, it would have been a safer solution.

I think what you are looking for is something similar to the chisel stand of Eugene Landon, who passed away a few years ago. He was one of the top reproduction furnituremakers in the USA. Multi prize winner. His tool cart for carving chisels featured in FW magazine ..

I only turn spindles, such as for legs. It is more convenient to have the chisels within reach behind the lathe ...

I got an old 2 drawer filing cabinet and made a tool rack on top. Wheels around and someplace to keep chucks and things in.
