Hi. Does anyone know where I can get some good cricket bat handle blanks?
I would like to repair a couple of bats for my son over winter and am looking for uncut and unbound blanks that I can shape to fit existing bats.
The replacement handles I see on line come pre bound with the splice already cut, which I guess may be ok if the handle splice is larger than the cut I need to make to remove the old handles, but I certainly would expect the binding to occur after the handle is glued in so that the binding would come down to the bat shoulder.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Greg.

I recall there was a discussion on the forum about cricket bats not just the handle and that the eventual discussion was that you might need to source the wood in a rough state. I am guessing that this might also be the case if you need to have the handle spline a certain width/thickness.

There was a cricket bat maker at the Lost Trades Fair last weekend. Might be worth a try. Sherwood Cricket (http://Www.sherwoodcricket.com.au)
