Nothing too exciting except that yes finally some forced time on the lathe. This job has been sitting on the back burner waiting to be trust forward and at last it is here.

It is the clients design. A copy of an old table. I think the legs arw 120 x 120 stock about 420 long

With one held on the out riggers it aerves an easy refference for the next

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180402/be17aea72f3f00d1b8ce6b193e38e3ed.jpg

And ready to rough down

I hope to get this job finished tonight

What I did like .... a little mistake that showed how stable the Laguna is. I stood leg 2 on the tailstock outrigger to check it out and then proceeded to syart leg 3 withouy putting 2 somewhere safe

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180403/c9a7f7abcd7fe26663a63bdd9aba3ba4.jpg

As you can see it remained standing. Good thing that as client provided the timber and there is no spare

Three down amd the last one to finish tonight

G'Day Dave, what sort of time is involved in doing each leg for a master turner as yourself?? Cheers, PeterNot sure about a master ... embarrassingly the first one took me about 2 hours. I had a bad picture and no measurements to go from.

The last one was a mkre respectable 20 minutes
Hi dave , good job mate , well done , good to see your doing a bit of night work:UThank you. Amazing how rusty you get when you dont go on for a while. Was good getting on there. Must do it more often

Advice on longer legs

short leg on long leg. Will increase corbal end to where pic is taken.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180404/3cf68abfc83951a2a3c7699b1293cbaa.jpg

Thinking flip on tripple bead then at corbal introduce foot. Foot maybe slightly elongated.

Thoughts?

Now the big legs. Haf to come up with something chunky based on the coffee table legs but this time for a dining table. Most of this mess is from the first 4. Just started roughing down the first of the dining legs

Starting to take shape

And a comparison big to small

Tomorrow after work I hope to get the last three done.

I can't help but feel that the smaller legs are a bit on the heavy side for their length, one could assume the coffee cups may be 20 litre units, or possibly the table has a set of Encyclopedia Britanica and all yearly additional editions on top. Whichever is the reason, it certainly will be able to hold kids doing their thing when big people aren't around.
