Another newbie question........will green wood maintain its size and form when encapsulated by resin????

I don't know about the resins you use in Australia, but some over here will form a lot of bubbles and destroy what you were trying to preserve. So, moist or green wood is a no no............. Jerry (in Tucson)USA

CA glue will glue wet wood, so that might work. As moisture leaves the piece over time it is likely to change shape and shrink.

It will make a nasty mess... The resin may well cure - but now you have locked in all the moisture, fungus, bugs, and bacteria which eat and rot wood... And trust me.. Wood fungus will grow just fine underneath a thick layer of casting resin...
It's kinda like making one of those sealed jar terrariums... We had one going for almost 10 years - completely sealed shut - little fish, plants, etc...

Hi brainstrust , I would have thought once it was sealed (no air inside) it
would be fine , i am thinking of the keyrings and paperweights with spiders
and other critters inside , they don, t change shape or go mouldy do they ?
I cannot see how the wood can change once it is starved of air !
Is this the CL ? If so it has been drying for about 4 yrs , so not sure there
would be much moisture:;

In short no.
Wood contains heaps of air and so the degradation will continue until it becomes starved of air.

They are dried first, then cast.
