Excellent!

Thanks for that Coastie.
Well spotted.

I've got a position open on the committee for Newletter Editors Assistant - Proof Reader and Webmasters Assistant - Proof Reader.

It would be 100% web based work and two hours a month.

Have a thing about it and let me now.

Maybe if you were in Victoria where they know how to greet and talk to people this wouldn't have happened. Homesglen is in Victoria where they know how to treat people right.

I must admit however, that there does seem to be a bit of a difference between the Triton clubs and Woodturning or General Woodworking Clubs. I have done demonstrations and presentations for all 3 types of club and find the Woodturners as a whole to be great, General woodworkers similar with maybe a little less enthusiasm, but the Tritoneers, I have so far found to be a completely different mob.

Definitely not as friendly or willing to accept an outsider, even a bit closed with other members, with little or no interaction between members at the meetings I have attended. This may be because they were reasonably new clubs and they were still feeling their way. Maybe it is because a different type of person is involved, but whatever it is there definitely isn't the same atmosphere of friendliness and camaraderie.

I must admit that so far I have come away from their meetings with a cold empty feeling (and not because it is winter or I'm hungry).

Just my observations so far.

g'day Mik,

Welcome to Triton and this Forum.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just asked one of my officers to be responsable for this issue. And I'll be sure to make more of an effort as well.

I love watching Aussie Rules but have absolutely nothing to say to a true-blue dinky-dye fan. I certainly admire their dedication but simply can't relate to something they've probably grown up with all their lives. They've got their own songs and language.

This might be a bad example but I hope I've explained myself well enough.

For myself I've only just come to realize that there is more to life than the persuit of technical expertise. Where I've always put my technical expertise first to make a decent living etc...

As compared to coming from the US where 'good ole country folk' will tell a complete stranger their entire lifes story with their first breath. Or sit out on the porch for hours sipping ice tea and not saying a word for hours.

When I first came to Aus I was put in a hotel for 5 days. Noone talked to me or checked in on me. I had a very hard time relating to Australians after that.

I have a motto now... 'If I don't make the effort then no one will'.

Its a bit harsh but it keeps me pushing myself forward no matter the indifference or negative response.

Have another go. Keep trying and don't give up on them or yourself.

Thanks for the post.

All the best.

And I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sincerely,
Barry G. Sumpter

Hi Barry,
I've just attended my first ever Triton owners club meeting here in Canberra. I didn't join up since I will be moving to Melbourne soon, but I thought I'd go to see what such a club would offer.
Hmmm...
Actually, I would be a @&$%# to winge, considering they are volunteering their time. It was amusing when the Triton router broke midway though a demo (not for them I'm sure! and I noted the Triton reps were nowhere to be seen!) Are there any reports of the router switch malfunctioning? (the power light was on, but no activity)

Regarding getting spares from Triton, do you recommend ordering through my local hw store, or phoning Triton direct? I get jealous by the number of freebies you seem to score (if I read all your posts correctly), and was hoping Triton would shout me all the little bits of plastic I'm missing.
For example, my triangle is missing the little red, plastic, pressure finger. My local hw quoted me $11(!). At that rate, by the time I replaced everything I may as well buy a new workcentre!
Would Triton just replace it if I went and saw them? Or am I expecting too much of Triton customer service?
Unfortunately, it's a bit far to drive to Cheltenham, so am I doomed to suffer the service level of regional australia?

Hi John,
You can ring them to discuss your issue.
http://www.triton.net.au/contacts.html

If its a missing part from a purchase then ask them to send it to you for no charge.

If its a second hand purchase the prices are cheap, the service is so excellent that they'll mail it to you.

You can chase down your part here: http://www.triton.net.au/sparts.html

Let me know how you go.

And just to add to Barry's reply- when you do move to Melbourne, drop in and say howdy at our club meet!

John, I misplaced the same piece a few weeks back (my fault). I called Triton's customer service informing them I had lost it. They replaced the piece and mailed it to me in two days - NO CHARGE!

I have been very impressed with Triton's consumer service - they've earned my loyalty.
