Hi all. I have just picked up a group of Craftool leatherwork tools. I was looking for the decorating punches which I want to use on wood turnings etc to do embellishment.
Among the stuff I got were some square stamps. Mostly animals. But I may be missing part of the tool to hold them when hit. Or maybe an arbor type press. I have a handle I think may be it but it is a loose fit so I want to be sure first before doing damage.
I've done the googling but can only find some of the stamps and no info on how to use them.
Anyone out there help with info or missing part.
Photos later if needed.
Any help or info greatly appreciated.

Got a couple. But will have to post/upload on Monday sorry. They are too big to load.
I think I'll try to find a leatherwork group near me to learn some basics.

Yes that is the correct handle, fits in the hole on the back spring loaded ball grips so it does not fall off, you strike it with a non metallic hammer just like any other leather punch or you can use it in a press with the appropriate adapter

Thanks China. But that handle doesn't hold the stamp. It's loose. But I can't see any wear in either stamp body or handle. I will check the detent ball.
Were or are there different sizes of handles or stamps that you know of.
Thanks for your reply.

Have a look through here Lyle.
https://www.tandyleather.com.au/en/category/3-d-leather-stamps

There's a 'how to' video on the first page

The handle you have is probably for the mini stamps

You need this one

I cant' speak for Newcastle, i Adelaide there is no such thing as a leather work course, 5 years ago things were quite different the leather work craze/fashion has virtually disintegrated in Australia, there are only the original stalwarts still around, just ask any one who sells leather work supplies.there are some good tutorials on YouTubeI checked my set the shank tat fist in the stamp is appr. 8.4 mm the stamps are appr. 15.4-5 mm, I believe you can purchase the shank separately from any Tandy dealer

Plenty of people doing leatherwork. You don't need sit down classes, although there are quite a few in Sydney. You have Youtube. Just do a Youtube search for leatherwork, 1000s of how to videos. Tandy Leather has a series of how tos as does Springfield leather in the US.

Yep. Been utubing.
I'm going to check my stamp handle and stamps sizes and get the right handle and maybe the heavy duty collar too.
I have a friend in the usa who might be able to help locate and post for me.

Thanks for that. I thought initially they were USA. Just spoke to a nice lass and she was excellently helpful.
Been youtubing like crazy. and got a heap of info. Now I'll get some gear and have a go as they say.
