I'm sure you could DIY something similar for a lot less than their asking price

Elan, we're planning a kitchen rebuild in a year or two - once I get a bit more proficcient at a few things.

My wife isn't the tallest of persons on the planet - but she does now owe you a big hug. This is purely brilliant design, and I think a couple of these will be designed and built into our kitchen.

Thank you!

I have my doubts
cost of two Blum full extension slides rated at 80 kg each would be?
plus construction time?

BUT AGREE a great idea

A pair of soft close Blum runners will set you back about $80. But that doesn't matter, because they won't help you in this application anyway.

You don't really need runners at all; the thing has wheels at the bottom, so there's your load bearing component. If you want to keep it attached to the rest of the cabinetry, a pair of normal side mount drawer slides is $15, which can be mounted flat since they're non-load-bearing, and you only need one at the top. A sheet of 25mm poplar plywood is $200ish and I reckon you'd fit 4 to a sheet. Some 6mm steel rod for the pivots, nice flat castors https://www.hafele.com.au/en/product/rotola-flat-1-castor-white-grey-80kg/000000690002460300050023/

The real cost is time, but if you're DIYing, you probably don't mind spending a day to save a few hundred bucks.

USD $595

It looks like an honest price to me... if you want to make this only once, keep only the features you want, and you don't mind routing and sanding a couple of days you can definitely do it for less (excl your own labour cost)

But if you want to make it quickly and perfectly and incorporate all the safety features and options someone somewhere *might* want, and still make a buck, you definitely need to invest in some serious CNC. And it looks like that's exactly what they've done

Great idea though, I hope they make their money before China offers it for $200.

I'm definitely making one for the laundry, we put the drier up on the wall and now we need bring a step stool in there all the time.
