View Full Version : maybe upcoming I2R router

I have been looking for a cnc router for years (probably up to a decade now) but can't afford much for hobby use. Not an electrician or mechanic I would not even consider trying to build my own or modify a chinese machine. Axiom have just launched a thing they call the I2R https://i2rcnc.com/ which is probably something I can afford when it comes to Aus. What do you people think about this?

I think that is the same one that was mentioned in the other thread on here, Woodman CNC.
I was having a look at it myself, but will wait till I get back to Australia to make more enquiries. Seems you attach your own router/trimmer to it. I am in the same boat as you, purely for hobby. Not even sure if this does laser engraving though.

Could I also suggest a X-carve machine. It is basic and is simple to use. Very suitable for wood carving

I just saw there is an Australian version of the X carve - XYZ Carve by 3DTek and I can find no bad reviews and it is under $2K. I was worried about support (I said I have no electrical skills) but that looks okay as well. I think I am sold and may consider the I2R into the future.

The x-carve has simple to follow video setup to watch and has its own forum.

It also comes with a simple program called easel which is very user friendly
I have other CNC machines in my shed, but the X-carve was the easiest to get up and running
I have no connection with them, except to highlight a good hobby machine
