I had not opened this thread until tonight. I’m with Willy and like it also. Nice wood. Is it turned first and then hand carved?

Is it turned first and then hand carved?Thank you Kidbee Yes Turned then the sun rays carved then back on the lathe and the center ring was inset, it's Curly Maple dyed Black; the clock is inset as well. After that the piece was turned around in the jaws and the tenon was removed while cutting the access hole in the back. The whole project is 1/8" thick except where the carving was done that was 5/16" thick.
