View Full Version : Can You Make These Two Copper Plates?

I am a woodworker and I am not setup for metalwork so I am asking if anyone could machine two round copper plates for me. I am happy to reimburse you for your time and I can supply the copper for you.

What I need is two round copper plates that are 99.97mm in diameter and have nine 1/2" each holes drilled in them. As shown on this attached drawing. The copper will probably be about 6mm thick.

I am not sure how to best do this but I was thinking that you could mark the centre, drill out the 1/2" hole in the centre then run a 1/2" nut and bolt through the hole and then mount the plate in a lathe chuck via the bolt. Then turn it down to the 99.97mm diameter and then drill the remaining holes.

The two plates are going into a 4" copper tube. The copper tube is 101.60mm OD with a wall thickness of 1.63mm, this should make the 99.97mm a good fit. Some else is going to weld the plates on either end of a 4" copper tube for me.

Can anyone help?
