Hi there, im thinking of buy one of these lathes, are they any good, is there anything to look at when buy second hand, and how much are they usually worth in Melbourne?

The small Vicmarc is a good lathe, along with a few others like the small Woodfast.

If you can get it for half the price of a new one (including those accessories) you will have done well.

Vicmarc lathes & chucks are considered to be among the best manufactured anywhere in the world. The many versions of the VL100 are probably the best of the mini / midi lathes available in Australia and are virtually un-killable. 20 plus years of trouble free service in a club environment is fairly common.
