Bosch guide rail system

Has anyone tried the Bosch guide rail system for their router?

I already have a bosch track and this seems very useful. I believe it is compatible with other brands of router? I am looking to get the 1800w makita or another 2200w makita to use with it.

Did you get any more information about this...or even buy one? Sounds like a good system (I like the micro adjustment). I have an old Makita 3600BR and wonder if it would fit.

A quick net search couldn't find any in Australia...did you find any?

I am currently awaiting the arrival of my first order from Axminster. I too read the 4 day delivery time they suggest. I ordered last Tuesday and tracking tells me it landed in Adelaide today, Saturday, so likely I will see it Tuesday. I think 4 days is more like the minimum if you live in a capital city.

Having said that I am so far pretty happy with process, good website, easy ordering system, order processed and on its way in around 24hrs and very detailed tracking.

My only real concern is that they have such a good range that I can see it costing me a fortune every time I browse their site :rolleyes:

Can anyone tell me the inside diameter of the mounting plate? - this will determine if it will fit a particular router. I'm sure I could drill more holes if necessary nut if the inside diameter of the circular 'rail' is too small, then it wont fit.

I suppose you could insert a spacer plate but that would mean even a higher plate level for the router.

I might try emailing Axminster....

One of the photos on the Axminster site show it with a GOF 1600 router mounted in it and there appears to be just a small amount of clearance around it. If someone has one of those they may be able to give you a diameter of the base.

Over the years I have bought quite a lot of stuff from Axminster, and had consistently good experiences. Most shipments are same day, rarely later than next day, and they do keep you informed.


Their Error

A couple of years ago they advertised Veritas Twin Screw Vices at deeply discounted price of £125 ex-VAT (current price is £253.96 inc-VAT) and freight free world-wide for orders over £149. I emailed them and asked them to confirm the VAT-free price for two vices and that the order would be freight free. They immediately responded thanking me for advising them of their advertising error - it should have read freight free within the EU only - but as it was their error in good faith the freight free offer would apply to me on this order only. It did, and I landed two vices for £250 - then about $210 each ! Nice.


Fastest Delivery

I sent the first email above at 10 pm on a Friday night. The replies were almost instantaneous. I sent the confirming order at 11 pm that night.

The courier delivered two vices weighing just under 20 kilograms total in Hobart at lunch time on Tuesday = about 3½ days.


Routine Deliveries

My experience is that most deliveries take six days to Hobart.


Recent Deliveries

This is a general comment about overseas deliveries; not just about Axminster. Since the change in the GST rules, tracking shows that many orders sent by parcel post sit for three or four days in Customs in Melbourne or Sydney.

I asked the question at Axminster:
'What is the inside diameter of the circular plate? In other words, what is the maximum diameter of a router base that will fit? I can always drill more holes if the existing holes don't suit my old Makita 3600BR (with a 160mm base diameter).'

And Axminster staff answered:
I can confirm that the maximum diameter which will fit onto this plate is 195mm'

A great and quick response from the company....

So it looks like my old Makita will fit easily. So I will probably purchase this and some rails. I don't know what brand (seems like several are compatible) and where from. I want the rails to double as the tracks for a Makita circular saw as well. Good chance (based on the comments from other people here that it all will be purchased from Axminster.
