As happens in early February every second year in Hobart, there were some remarkable wooden boats on display on the water and ashore around Constitution Dock.
My own contribution consisted of two kayaks; a Junior racing K1 built five years ago and a lightweight recreational kayak. I have taken the liberty of including extra photos of my own work. Although they were displayed in a prominent position just inside the main door of Princes Wharf 1, it was difficult to get a good photo of them.
The largest of the boats ashore was "Mistral", delivered to the festival by the navy. She was built in the 1920s and I think sailed in the first Sydney Hobart. The plan is to spend $2M restoring her to add her to the Tasmanian fleet of tall ships.
The recreational kayak is 4.8 metres long and weighs just 9.5kg.

Thanks for those photos Allan. Is the canoe in pic number 7 made of paulownia?
