Rather than wait 3 or 4 days and pay $18 for an alternator rotor puller (yes, I'm a jew) I made a puller myself. The rotor has a threaded spigot on the outer, the thread being M24 x .1, actual outer size of the thread being 23.8 mm. Being as the thread is .1mm that makes the core diameter 22.8.
Using a 25mm length of 27mm pipe I skimmed the inside out to 22.8mm the thread core diameter and I skimmed the first 3mm out to 23.8mm as a thread depth reference, that being the actual thread diameter.
Once the thread was cut, I faced off the opposite end of the pipe and welded on a fine thread 12mm nut. For the pusher bolt, I faced the end and skimmed off the first 5mm of thread. This providing a nice flat surface for the rotor centre bolt to rotate on.
The thread on the spigot is extremely rough so these sizes gave a nice tight thread fit. Once screwed in place with the aid of a spanner so as not to risk stripping the spigot thread I screwed in the pusher bolt and the rotor came off with a minimum of effort, certainly easier than I thought it was going to be.
Bonus: It only took about 30 minutes to construct, I saved $18 and got the rotor off now, rather than in four days time.
