Drying

Hello,

I recently received a few nice big green pieces of paperbark, ash and liquid amber. How should I go about drying them, and are they suitable for turning?

They're certainly suitable for turning, especially the paperbark. If you turn the liquidamber while it's still green, wear a raincoat. If the bits you've been given are already cut into short, woodheap type rounds, then chuck it all out. If you've got logs, rip them down the middle to take the tension out of the wood, and put them somewhere dry with plenty of air where they'll dry fairly slowly i.e., out of the sun.
