View Full Version : Cold cut saw blade - different tooth profiles?

I have a Dewalt DW872 cold cut saw with the original 355x2.2mm 70T TCT blade that came with it (Dewalt DT1900; no longer available). It grabbed on some light gauge steel the other day resulting in one carbide breaking off completely and the cutting edge chipping off another.

I've had a look around and 355mm TCT blades designed for 1300rpm use are pretty thin on the ground. I can't find a genuine Dewalt replacement online at all, so I've narrowed the potential replacement down to these two:

https://www.bunnings.com.au/irwin-35...blade_p6370366 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/irwin-355mm-80t-metal-circular-saw-blade_p6370366)
https://sydneytools.com.au/product/x...-made-in-japan (https://sydneytools.com.au/product/xtorque-platinum-xps355-355mm-14-80teeth-steel-carbide-tipped-saw-blade-made-in-japan)

Both are the right speed rating (saw is 1300rpm) and both are 80T which is similar to the existing 70T, but the Irwin is a completely different tooth profile to the current blade. The XTorque is similar to the existing Dewalt tooth profile but I've never used XTorque and they seem to be exclusive to Sydney Tools.

Would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm leaning towards the XTorque as it seems to be the closest match to the original blade, including the lower spec'd max RPM (1500 vs 1800 for the Irwin), but I don't truly understand what effect the different tooth shapes have on cutting performance.
