I haven't turned any sphere's for a while and as with any other skill, if you don't keep practising, you loose the finer details.

So I turned a couple spheres. I rough turn, then refine with the Vermec Sphere Jig.

One is an offcut of Camphor and the other is a scrap of Spectraply.

Pat, I don't know the difficulties encountered while doing spheres, but they all look pretty good to me. Thanks for showing the work in progress.

I'm gonna guess they are all solid. If you are stacking gluing up the Spectraply, when you make the next one, make the blank longer. Cut it in half and hollow out each with a matching rabbet on each half? Glue it back together, and finish your sphere. If all measurements were correct, you would have a hollow sphere. Is that doable???............. Jerry (in Tucson)USA

Hello Jerry, a Spherical box, done them. They are actually easier to turn than a regular sphere, as long as you allow for the mortice and tenon, DAMHIKT!

Nice spheres Pat.
Do you find there is an eager market for them?.

People like them, but they are a novelty, so not so eager for discretionary frivolities.

I've made a number on a commission basis, for martial artists and a mixed media artist, two totally different end uses.
