I have about 5 Nova chucks (hate changing jaws) and needed another for a different set of jaws.
Because of availability and price bought a Record SC4 companion chuck.
Build quality is on par with Nova but the best part is that it closes clockwise instead of the abnormal CCW of the Nova.
Hated the wrong way around thing so this is much more intuitive. Can use it without thinking twice.
Must have something to do with different hemispheres.
If I need another chuck it will be a Record.

As a public service, I’m prepared to come around and remove all your Nova chucks for you. :)

I’ve also got one Chuck which turns the right way, and that only increases the confusion. At least the SuperNova2 has a little arrow showing which way is in.

Don't forget the beer and biltong when you come :)

Completely agree - I also found the Nova chucks unintuitive and hence bought a vicmarc to replace my Nova and recently picked up the Record on special too.

Quite happy with the quality vs the Vicmarc.

One thing I found is that I bought the Record spindle adapter to use the chuck on my Vicmarc VL150 and the Record adapter doesn't have a big enough relief i.e. the diameter of the unthreaded bit on the head side of the spindle thread is greater than the diameter of the unthreaded start on the adapter
hence created a quick wooden spacer.

I have a no name adapter on my collet chuck that doesn't have this problem that would also fit the Record chuck so just something to consider if you are wanting the adapter to "fit" your Vicmarc lathe.

I have 2 Nova Infinity chucks (one started life as a SuperNova 2 but I converted it with the Infinity upgrade kit). I have the jaws from #1 to #7 and love the quick change over. And it's even quicker to swap over chucks. I also fitted the retro kit to my Nova Col jaws to make them Infinity compatible.

The Nova Infinity range was a really great system, a real shame that Teknatool stopped marketing them. I got pretty much the entire system from Carbatec when they had the half price run-out sale on the range, and picked up the last set of jaws from Amazon US.
