Recently Built Paulk Workbench II
2400 x 1200 (two indexed halves of 2400 x 600)
I'll subject this bench to the Great Unwashed of gumtree, but thought I'd see if anyone here wants it first - offered at the cost of the materials (work it out yourself if you want: 4 sheets of 12mm ply, 1 sheet of 18mm MDF, a gallon or two of titebond, and a gazillion screws. Give or take one or two). $280.00
I use it as two separate workbenches most of the time, and then join them together when I'm working with big sheets. I wanted something strong enough to be useful, but light enough for me to be able to move around the shop into its different configurations myself. He does a lot of site work, so his bench goes in and out of a truck regularly.
My workshop plans keep changing, and the two pieces are just slightly too long end to end to fit across the wall now. My options are to sell this one, and build a slightly shorter bench, or cut this one down - which would be a bit of a shame.
The dog holes are milled with the Parf Guide system, so they're as tight as a camel's bum in a sandstorm, and the layout is perfectly square. It's very easy to make square/30º/45º/60º cuts, and they're useful for holding things in 101 different ways. Top is sealed with the shellac/poly mix discussed on these forums.
There are options to hang a table saw off the end, and to incorporate a router table - I haven't done either, but happy to explain how.
It has a few scratches on the top - easily sandable if you're a pedant; it's not an artwork or fine woodworking - it's designed and built to do a job. It's very strong (I stand on it regularly to reach Precious Things On Shelves), and very light for its size. There's plenty of tool storage in the torsion box - makes it a pleasure to use.
Sale includes the torsion box bench tops and large trestles (I use the small trestles for other things)
