In prep for bowls I wanted to get into making more of, I bought this curved post, but she don't fit the banjo hole. I need it to be 25mm, it's currently 25.3. Outside of hand filing or grinding, is there any other way to shave down 0.3mm?

Careful sanding of the post. Start at 80#. Sand the end till it just fits, then progress up the shaft. Polish out the 80# with 120#, 180# & 240#

As above, put in vice, use sandpaper like shining shoe, turn 1/4 turn, repeat until it fits. The sanding of 1/2 the shaft with frequent 1/4 turns keeps the shaft surprisingly round. It doesn't really matter if the shaft is not perfectly round.

You'd probably get it into a 3 jaw on a metal lathe. Slow speed and care would get you there faster.

Why not just file contact points on the banjo. When it fits, you can get others that are large and not have to deal with filing a post again. It's not gonna hurt the banjo......... Jerry (in Tucson)USA
