Decided to make this to hold the reed diffuser type air fresheners. Unsure if the wood is Jarrah or if it another type of Australian hardwood but this was turned from a very weathered cross member from an old power pole

What happened to the first attempt? Hahaha. Doesn't look like Jarrah, it's not red enough.

heres a Jarrah arm rest finished with cabothane clear gloss.

Sorry, got carried away. That's great work, I might pinch the idea.I have got some jarrah here and you are right about the colour but this stuff is harder on my chisels than what jarrah is. My first attempt was a toothpick dispenser I just have not got around to sharing a photo of it which I did make from jarrah.

Don't ask me how I managed to pull off the lid without destroying it in a spectacular way while using the bowl gouge but I am adamant it was a fluke this is box number 3 I like it more than the one in my original post

Yes, I agree by the grain, it doesn't look like Jarrah.
But, you CANNOT tell Jarrah just by it's colour.
Here in SW of WA Jarrah come in every colour from pink, red, purple to brown and all colours in that range.
