First one is 390 x 100 mm with a wall thickness of 10mm. Did not intend to have such a thin bowl, just had a few teething problems (dig ins) getting familiar with the new custom Vicmarc S shaped tool rest. The profile shape is the Ogee type.

Second one measures 370 x 120 with a thickness of 16mm. With a radius lip.
Both bowls finished with 2 coats of single pack sanding sealer then 2 coats of lacquer.

It is a Wattyl single pack finish called "Stylwood". It is sprayed on.
Have used 2 coats of compatible (rediseal) sanding sealer underneath.
Blackwood can be a testy timber to finish.
I have noticed using danish oil in the past. It spits back out finish after you think you have got it right. It happens with lacquer too. The sanding sealer seems to be the fix.

Skew ChiDAMN!!

I prefer the thinner bowl. :)

Maybe it won't hold as many corn flakes, but it has that touch of elegance to my eye.

No real problems with the new tool-rest beyond fine-tuning the ol' muscle learning?

A couple of very nice looking bowls there AB, interesting wood, well turned and well finished. Like Skew my preference would be for the thinner bowl.

Thanks for the reply , Is that a rattle can or do you have a spray gun ?

Thanks DS. The finish is in 30% gloss. I prefer it to an overly glossy finish.
