For $5 I bought a 2ltr ice cream container of inserts at the local Sunday morning car boot sale some used and some appear to be unused I recognise a quite a few but others have me stumped with regard to their intended use perhaps someone in the know could enlighten me, here are pics of some of them .
There are trapezoidal shaped ones that are flat on the top - one end has what looks as if it is a small piece of different material has been fixed/silver soldered to the insert, it has a mirror finish polish.
There are others that look to have the same piece of different material fixed to the end - the body is shaped to fit into a parting off/grooving tool holder - the high mirror finish polished cutting tip is radiused
If they are intended for turning some sort of exotic metal then it probably won't be worth buying a tool holder for them.
