I have had an issue in the last few days that I have not encountered before so I thought I might pass along the fix as a lot of wrong answers get given when you Google the problem.

When composing an email GMAIL by default seeks to shortcut the process by auto completing the address for you. If you have previously entered an email address even once and that address is wrong or no longer used GMAIL still insists on giving you the address that is no longer applicable and deleting it from contacts does not stop the behaviour and that is the general advice given if you do a search/ It is only half correct, delete from your contacts is the first step but then you have to go to the bottom of the contact folder list at the left of the contact page to OTHER CONTACTS and delete it there also. Once that is done the wrong address is not in the auto complete list. Other contacts is the list GMAIL builds every time you send an email. I only found one reference to this in a long search to rectify the problem. My apologies to the two forum members that this happened too multiple times.

This is great to know Chris. The last time I attempted to deal with it, it was left with the understanding that I had to delete all emails from/to the offending address, so your revelation is welcome indeed.

Lance I thought that would be case also and nightmares are made of that stuff. I haven't got enough years on this earth to put it all back together again.
