is there a central body who would know where & when regional shows are being held?? IE the Kapunda show last weekend.

Symtec. If you mean Agricultural Shows, and that sort of thing, these can sometimes be found on the web-site of the particular state concerned,and their Ag Societies. I know that W.A.post a list of their shows. I also know that Vic doesn,t because amongst other things my wife and I show Shetland ponies, and that would be handy for us.(There is a life beyond wood turning!)Of course I may have misunderstood your query completely, and if so I appologise.

But there is a little method in my madness in that it keeps 'er indoors happy playing with the ponies and also keeps her out of my shed, so she has little idea of the number or cost of the expensive new toys I aquire from time to time.
