View Full Version : Rectangular walnut bowl with natural edge

Today I show you the creation of a flat rectangular bowl with natural edge all out of walnut wood.


After the planing I glued the board with hot glue on a cone of the turner's lining. After that I started with the mold-turning of the outer shape. Then I glued the other side and turned the inside. As a finish I have sanded it up to grain 500, then treated it with turner oil.

I watched your vid, nice :2tsup:
Thought it needed a little more depth to it but that just might be the way the camera shows it and of course limited by the thickness of your wood.

a bit more depth would be nice, but jea the wood platter was not thick enought

Very nice piece. What is your lathe? It looks very substantial.
