Purchasing a monitor from Centrecom.com - good or bad experience?

G'day

Someone I know wants to purchase a new Monitor and centrecom.com has the best price (but no stock until May sometime, like everyone).

Has anyone had a purchase experience with them, and what was it like? I have read very mixed reviews online but frankly I don't trust them much - good ones written by the owners, bad ones written by the competitors, is always my thinking.

I’ve purchased a couple of computers from centrecom and haven’t had any problems. Good price and good advice from the guys who work there.

For many years now we have been buying our computers from MSY Technology (https://www.msy.com.au/), locally from their Mitcham store, but they have two stores in Sydney.

Always good service and consistently cheaper then the others. I can thoroughly recommend them.

Brett, if there is no stock until May sometime, then it's likely to be June sometime, then July sometime...

With supply chains disrupted, you are better off finding an alternative item in stock. There are no shortage of montor models to choose from. It's a commodity market, with much of the product differentiation just marketing spin.

I assume you know, but if not StaticIce does a good price comparison for IT gear.

I normally buy from Umart. They don’t have much of a shop front so best option is click & collect if you know what you want.

It is a while since I have been there but I have had no issues with Centrecom.
I live within a short distance of two of their shops. One is very small (about 10m2) where you get good personal service, advice or repairs. Last I looked it was open 5.5 days. The other is a much larger shop (about 150m2) with a lot of stock on display. This store is also close to Monash University. Open 7 days a week. Shop is normally very busy and you need to wait for assistance.
Like any chain, often it is the actual staff that make or break the reputation.

Currently if something is out of stock, it could just be guessing when it will arrive as a lot of manufactures are also shut down. (Just think of Apple.)

Well it seems to me that all those who've had a good experience with CentreCom must have been personal shoppers. I just tried to purchase something a couple of days ago and it was beyond ridiculous online. Their phone systems sound like they are from the 1980s, and when you press Option 6 "Speak to some about an online purchase" it promptly terminates the call (3 times, so no one-off glitch). I tried for a full day to make a purchase online.

Nup. Ended up paying a little more at M-wave, but got excellent Tech support on my query (which took a little while because of EOFY, but at least they addressed the issue properly and in great detail).

I purchased a PC monitor from Centrecom a couple of years ago.

Yes Brad, I purchased all my gear at Centrecom in store, and as I said in my earlier comment the service was first class. I realise that not everyone can shop "in store" for different reasons, but I rarely buy anything online unless the price is so attractive I feel that I've nothing to lose.
